Fethiye is a popular resort of great charm and beauty located in the hillsides of the Mount Mendos. The houses of the old town look down on the little port from a hill crowned with a fortress built by the Knights of Rhodes. At Fethiye (ancient Termessos), there are more than twenty impressive rock tombs cut out of the steep rock wall above the town.The new town of Fethiye is a very Turkish port and trading town on the SW Mediterranean coast. In the Gulf of Fethiye, which is one of the most beautiful gulfs in the world, there are 12 islands, both small and large, situated between the capes of Kurtoglu and Iblis and covered with forests. The first island in this gulf is the one named Fethiye Adasi (Knight's Island) dotted with small sand and shingle coves.Special thanks to my dear friend Christian F8BOD for help and assistance. During the 48 hours I stay on Fethiye islands, I have made 2575 QSO with a TS50 (100W), a vertical ground plane antenna (GPA30) and a 40m dipole.
